Nov 1

Today, I submit the survey report. Then I made the final draft of my composition along with its reflection. We practiced to sing ‘Indonesia Pusaka’ for the assessment tomorrow. In instrument class, we practiced to sing ‘Indonesia Pusaka’ with 2 voices or variations. It went pretty well to prepare for the assessment tomorrow. I will practice it again at home.

            Today, Mr. Herry gave us the result of our booklet from term 1 and also the survey. Then, we had singing assessment with our partner. We had practice first before the assessment started. My partner and I did it really well. I hope we can get a good score. We used instrument class for the singing assessment.

            Today, I wrote my reflection for the singing assessment last week. Then, I got a booklet of my friends’ composition. For instrument class, I wrote my lyrics for my composition. Then, I helped my friend to compose her left hand. I will make my final draft in finale later.

            Today, we learned about chord progression by the presentation made by Mr. Herry. Then, we watched video of 4 chords song and I submit my final draft and filled the assessment booklet. We used our instrument class to paste our hard copy finale on the assessment form. Then, I wrote the reflection about my composition.

            Today, we learned about chord progression. We created an 8 bars melody with the given 4 chords. Mr. Herry gave us some examples. We heard some of the composition of my friends in the instrument class. We had a pre performance and we practice one by one and shared some feedback with each other.

            Today, we had a review for the chord progression and relative minor. We did some exercises. Then, each representative performed his or her composition in front of the class. In instrument class, I practiced to play my composition. Then some of my friends had a pre performance and I gave them some feedback to improve their performance.

            Today, we did a worksheet about the basic skill of music. Then we had a review on the circle of 5ths and memorize the sharps in order. After that, we learned about natural, harmonic, and melodic minor scale. For instrument class, I did not practice because I have played it a lot before. So, I did my homework. I did 3 minor scales with natural, melodic and harmonic.

            Today, students from piano, violin and guitar performed the composition in front of the class. We gave some comments and also feedback to each other we had a little review on minor scale. For instrument class, I practice my composition first. Then, we played one by one and Mr. Herry gave us feedback and tips to play our song better.

            Today, I only had theory session. I received my music developmental workbook and I finished it at class. I should put the screenshot of my blogger at home and submit it tomorrow.

I received my music reflection pages. We practiced to sing a patriotic song 'Indonesia Pusaka' with my partner, Shafiera. Then, Mr.Herry checked the homework for the AA'BA' 32 bars movement composition.
During instrument class, I installed finale software into my usb. The rest of my friends played their composition.

   Today, I got a booklet consist of my friends' composition. We read some examples of good and bad reflection. Then, I extended the 4 bar of my A into 8 bars. I actually have done it before.I just need to review it at home and make sure it sounds good.I played my composition in front of the class today.
   I have to make a survey and submit it next week. I found my partner to sing for the assessment later, who is shafiera. I got 3 questions to ask in my survey:

1) Do you listen music everyday?
2) What kind of music?
3) Do you spend specific time to listen to music?

    I need to make at least 5 questions, so I will make 2 more questions or maybe more. I am going to ask 20 people; binusians, parents, family,driver, security, and etc.

 Today,I submit the music development workbook. Then, we had review about Western Music generally and we had question and answer session. We had a task for term 2 to survey about the understanding of Western Music Genre.

   In theory class, some representatives from each instrument played their composition. I played mine, which I made the new one yesterday. I think my new composition is better than before. I will practice it at home to play it fluently. I will take the music developmental workbook tomorrow morning.
    For instrument class, my friend, Nico performed a classical piece for the upcoming competition this week. Then, Mr.Herry gave some advice for our composition. I am glad that my composition is already good. I just need to practice it at home so I can play better.

     Today, Mr.Herry checked our homework about the composing of AA'BA'. Then, I played my composition on the piano. Mr.Herry reminded us to always update our blog and upload our practice videos. He showed us some examples of the practice videos and its comments. For instrument class,  I practiced to play my composition. I saw the examples of the composition made last year. I have to copy my composition tomorrow on a special paper and extend from 4 bars into 8 bars.

Today, I received a new worksheet on major scale. We learned about enharmonic notes and practiced it. Mr.Herry checked the homework on the composition of 16 bars that we made. Then, I learned how to compose in the form of AA'BA'. In instrument class, we learned how to play the melody with accompaniment. I tried to play the accompaniment by playing the broken chords. I played it, I think it sounds really good. I will practice more by making a video of it.

Today, the woodwind students perform to do their assessment on classical song. Then, we learned how to compose a melody. We combine some of our compositions to be 16 bars and play it. It actually pretty good. I should continue compose my melody until 8 bars. For instrument class, I continued composing my melody into 8 bars.

Today was the assessment for the solo classical performance. I did really well even though I was nervous. I did not make any mistakes, I played the dynamic and expression in a good posture and I am happy about it. Mr.Herry gave me good comment, I hope I can get a really good some as I expected. Next time, I should be more confident to be less nervous.

Today, I am hoping that I will be able to play my classical song (assessment rehearsal) very well. Today, all of the students did the rehearsal for the assessment tomorrow. I made a lot of mistakes, I will practice and make sure I will play very well for the assessment tomorrow.

       I submit my music booklet after school because I have not put the bibliography on my booklet. I also submit my music sheet to Mr. Herry. After that each representative of each instrument performed their song for preparation for the practical assessment 2 weeks from today. I thought some of them performed well. I practiced my classical song during  the instrument class. We were given time to practice by ourselves. Then, we played in front of Mr.Herry to see our improvement. I had improvement on my tempo. I will improve to the next step to put my emotions to the song by plating it more often.

              We had review about the written notation (major 7th, dominant 7 and the inversions). Some of us answered the questions on the white boatd. My booklet is not complete yet so I have to complete it and submit it tomorrow. Then each representative from each instrument performed their classical song to prepare for the assessment later. I thought their performances were really great.
               I had practice to play my song for preparation for the assessment next week. I played it well but I need to fix the tempo. Mr.Herry thought it would be nicer to play it slower because it is a romantic piece. I will practice it again.

     Today I did a written notation test. I have prepared really well by reviewing at home. I answered all of the questions easily and properly. I think the quiz was very easy since I have learned it before. I did not encounter any difficulties during the test, I hope I can get a perfect score.

        Today, we had a review about major 7th and their inversion. Then, we did some exercises about it. I think it was very easy because I have learned it before. After that, a representative from each instruments performed their classical music. I was the one who played he music and I did it pretty well.  I have to practice it again to perform at the end of the term. I also have to study for a quiz tomorrow. For instrument , there was one group presented their presentation about western music, so I did not do anything because there was no enough time. I just sit and listen to the presentation.

    Today, Mr.Herry taught us about major 7th. We learned the root of c major 7th, its 1st inversion, 2nd inversion and 3rd inversion. It was the introduction for our composition because we are going to use the major 7th for our composition. It was challenging because I have to understand and memorize it. For instrument class, I played c to b major 7th with their 1st, 2nd and 3rd inversion. I did not play it fluently so I need to practice at home and I also need to cut my nail because it makes the fingering harder,

    Today, we had a review about major, minor scales and we learned a little about diminished and augmented scales. Them, we continued our assessment on the presentation. My group did it pretty well and I could answer he given question. I did not have enough time for instrument class.

     For theory class, I reviewed about major scales, only until 4 sharps. Then we discussed a little bit about tonic triad and major 7th. After that, I had m instrument class. I played the c until b major 7th, minor 7th, dominant 7, diminished 7 and half diminished. I made mistakes, I need to practice more at home. I also should upload m practice video on blogger.

   Today, we finished the assessment for the individual singing. Then, we started to have the assessment on group presentation. There were only 2 groups which presented it because we did not have enough time. My group and I will do it next week so we can still fix and prepare for the presentation. At last we have singing practice for the Independence Day.

       We sit in our group for the presentation today. Then we discussed a little bit about the presentation and decided who will do on the different genres. After that, we finished the assessment on singing western music. For the homework, I will do the presentation.
        For instrument class, I played c to b diminished 7 and half diminished. I did not play it fluently, I need much more practice at home.

   Today, we are divided into groups for the group presentation. Then, I did my singing individually assessment. I was so nervous but I did sing the whole song pretty well. I have to be more confident next time I have to make an outline for the presentation on western music.
   I played c to b major 7th, minor 7th and dominant 7. Then I learned how to play half diminished and diminished 7. I will practice to play it at home.

        Today was the assessment day, only some of my classmates performed because we did not have enough time. I will practice again to perform it next week. For instrument class, I played c to e major scale with their contrary motions. I also tried to play c major 7th, c dominant 7 and c minor 7th. I did not play them really fluently. I should try and practice it at home.

         Today, we had a little reviews on our last topic which was major scales of 1 sharp to 4 sharps and 1 flat to 4 flats. Then, Mr.Herry distributed two handouts about seventh chords. I also gave the title of my song that i'm going to sing for the assessment. After that, we discussed criterias which are assessed during the assessment. I have done pretty good today, I could answer some question. I will practice to sing at home for the assessment tomorrow. For thery discussion, we discussed triad, major 7th, dominant 7 and minor 7th. In instrument class, I played c major 2 octaves and its ontrary motion.

         First thing that I did today is singing binusian song. Then, Mr.Herry distributed our quiz yesterday and discussed it. We discussed about major scales. I got perfect score for the quiz because I did it all correctly. I think it was easy because I have learned it before. Next week, I have to give a title of the song that I am going to sing for the assessment. For instument class, I played C to B major scales with its tonic triad. I need to cut my fingernails because it affects my performance.

   Today was my first music class for year 10. The new students introduced theirselves. Then, I got the music unit planner and discussed about it. I got homework to do to prepare a western song for individual singing assessment next week. I did a pop quiz about notation and i think it was easy. I will do my task at home.

Today is my assessment on performing my own composition. I did pretty good with my A and B, but i made mistakes on left hands on part c. I should improve on memorizing the song better and do it without mistakes. I hope I get a good score.

Today, Mr.Herry check the finale submission. I will submit the hard copy and send the soft copy tomorrow. Then students from each instruments rehearse to perform their composition in front of the class. I will make lyrics and copy it to the finale for my final composition. I will practice again and memorize it for the rehearsal next week. For instrument class, I practiced my composition. Then, we rehearse on by one to perform in front of the class. Today, I watched some youtube videos about music talent like violin, cello. guitar. an orchestra and acapalle talent. Then, some of my friends redo the group singing assessment. I this video, I really show an improvement. I really did it well on the 3 parts, a, b and c. I did not make any mistakes, I play it fluently and I play it faster than before because one of my friend gave me a feedback that if I play my song faster it would sound happier and better. I have a written quiz today on notation of major scale with its tonic triad, major and minor, tonic triad with the first and second inversion. I think it is easy because I have learned it before, prepared enough by studying and reviewing at home and doing some exercises from class.
I played my composition and I will fix the left hand notes to make it more variable. I will make the composition in Finale.

Today, I watched videos for the song 'Indonesia Pusaka' and 'You've Got A Friend' for the singing assessment next week. Then I had a practice to sing the Indonesian song. I wrote 'Indonesia Pusaka' lyrics. After that, I received a booklet, a collection of my friends' music composition. At home, I will practice both song and copy my composition to finale.
For instrument class, I played my composition and Mr.Herry played he left hand. I got the chord of the left hand, so, I will make the left hand at home, copy it to the finale and print it.

For theory class, I copy my draft of my music composition from the worksheet to my music book, then, I submit the draft to Mr.Herry. Then, some of my friends perform a rhythmic patterns from notation. I will study at home for a written quiz next week about tonic triad and inversion and I will have a singing assessment on wednesday next week.
For instrument class, I try to play my composition on piano.

Today, I discuss my homework to label the parts of music notation, guitar, and violin. Then, we try to use the Finale software to make a composition. After that, we practice to perform rhythmic patterns from notation. I did 3 mistakes out of 11 with my partner, I will practice it at home to do it better and I will try to download finale software.
For instrument class, I continue my music composition. I finished my B, I will make the c at home and submit it next session.

April 5th 2011

Today is my first day of music class in term 4. I review about what we're going to do in term 4 including the assessments. I review about notation and inversion because we will have a written test. Then we discuss about the music composition. I will make 3 teams for the rondo song A, B, and C and I have homework to label musical notation.
For instrument class, I write my own composition, only the A and A'. I write 8 bars for A. I will continue my composition at home. I have done my song well so far.

March 16th 2011

Today is my last day for music class in term 3. I submit my copy of my reflection from my journal and my music developmental workbook. Then, I checked and had a review on the notation quiz. After that, some of my friends did their make up test. I also had a lesson about music composition. I will do my homework to write 16 bars of my composition.

This is my second practice for tonic triad. I made progress. I did the A and B tonic triad with their inversion without making mistakes. Through practice, I realized I can do better even with the fingering.

This is my first practice of the tonic triad. I did well on some tonic triad and its first and second inversion, but I made mistakes when I played the tonic triad of A and B major. I need to practice more for these tonic triad and inversions.

Today, we review about tonic triad and inversion. Then I received a music developmental workbook. After that, I watched some videos that have been upladed by my friends and also examples of reflection on blog. I will finish my music developmental workbook by writing the summary of my reflection in this term, print my reflection from blog and photocopy my reflection from my journal.
For instrument class, I played all tonic triad from all major scale with their first and second inversion. Then, Mr.Herry, my friends from piano instrument and I made a melody of ABACA form that consist of 20 bars. It sounds pretty well. Through this activity, i can see what I am going to do in semester 2 term 4 and be more prepared.

Today, we have review for the singing assessment's score. Then we have a quiz about classical to top, history, chord and inversion. After that, we watched some examples of grade 10 practice videos. I will upload my practice videos at home and put some comments on it.
For instrument class, I played the tonic triad with its inversion of all major scales. I did it quiet well but I need to work on the fingering. I will practice at home, record some videos, put feedbacks, upoad it to blogger. I also have to cut my fingernails.

This is my first practice, I should improve on techniques and to play the dynamics correctly by practicing.

In theory class, I learned about major 7th, minor 7th, and diminished 7th.  learned the formulas for it and also for dominant 7th. I will do my homework at home for a and d major 7th, minor 7th, and dominant 7th. And I will study for the quiz.

In instrument class, I played my classical song. I made some mistakes but I am better than yesterday. I will practice it again and prepare for the assessment next week.

Today, I practice and rehearse to perform my classical piece. I did not do it really well, I made some mistakes and I have not memorized it. I have to and will practice my classical song at home and try to memorize it.

Today, I learned how to write tonic triad with its first and second inversion. I wrote the tonic triad of C and G Major. I already learned it before so I did it easily. At home, I need to do my homework to write the tonic triad of D, A, E and F Major.
In instrument class, I tried to play my classical piece. I am going to practice it at home and try to memorize it.

Today, I did my group slide presentation on 'classical vs pop music'. My group didn't really well prepared because we don't have palm cards and some music that we put in the presenatation didn't work. Some of the group were well prepared and confident, but the others also did like my group without palm cards. In conclusion,the positive points are some of the group bring palm cards, put some clips or music in the presentation and confident. The negative points are the group didn't bring palm cards, limited content of presentation, some speakers speak slowly and did not well prepared.

Today I did my assessment on singing a pop song in front of the class with my guitar. I sang a song called 'Count On Me' by Bruno Mars. I will prepare a group slide presentation and a piece of classical music to be played with my instrument which is piano for the next assessment.

Today, I received the essay writing and singing assessment task booklet. I wrote reflection on both  paper. I wrote the background of pop song that I am going to sing later, what I need for this assessment and my preparation. Then, some of my friends perform their assessment in front of the class. I did not have enough time so, I will practice my song again and prepare because I am probably going to have my assessment tomorrow.

I received an essay task booklet which will be due tomorrow. The topic for this essay is 'Classical vs Pop music'. I will do the essay today. Then, I have not rehearsed my pop song in front of the class, so I will have my rehearsal tomorrow. I will practice it again at home.
In instrument class, I did not do anything because I did not have enough time. I just have to practice the parallel and contrary motion at home, so I can do it much better next time.

Today, I learned and discussed about classical music. Some of my friends rehearse pop song in front of the class. I will practice it at home and have a rehearsal next week and also research again on classical and pop music.
For instrument class, I played the parallel and contrary motion scale. I think I haven't done so well with the A and B major, so I will practice them without making mistakes.

In theory class, I received learning and task plan guide booklet. We divided ourselves into 5 groups and I know my group members. Then, I got western classical music booklet. I will have my assessment on singing pop music next week. I will prepare a song for a rehearsal tomorrow.

In theory class, I learned major scale and interval. I wrote C and G Major. I should write D, A, E, and B Major scale for my homework and research on classical and pop music for a pop quiz next week. I will do my assignments at home and study it.
In instrument class, I played major scales. I will practice other major or minor scales and the parallel & contrary movement at home.

Today is my first class for music. I choose the instrument that I decided to play which is piano. I know that my task is to research on classical and pop music. I think I have to research it and find the specific details so I can prepare properly for my task this semester.
